This model was designed and put through testing phases by a young engineering student, pilot and designer based in New York. His name is Kai Lin, aka Craftedkwads. We figured it was best to let him describe this frame so here's what he has to say about it. The Odonata is a nano drone that fits in your pocket, rips like a boss, and hums like a dragonfly (true to its namesake). Fits through the tiniest of gaps, and makes worlds out of small spots. 1.5mm thick carbon fiber plates make for great durability, and the custom delrin standoffs are almost half the density of the standard aluminum ones (while retaining the needed strength), making the Odonata one of the lightest frames on the market, in a class where weight is the #1 priority. Fully thought out, the Odonata offers proper motor protection, camera protection, and build durability. A top mounted battery makes for easy access, and optimal flight characteristics. The Odonata captures the essence of whoops and boosts their performance, durability, and ease of use. With a nearly identical wheelbase, the Odonata has a not-so-identical amount of performance, versatility and fun, however. It's a better flyer. First thing we thought of was the size, of course. 5 or 6 inch? The 6-inch quad, known for its speed and payload capacity, could feel a bit sluggish and lacked agility. On the other hand, the nimble 5-inch frame was highly agile but somewhat limited in lifting capacity. Well, why not create a 5.5-inch frame that combines the best of both worlds?With the FIFTY5, you get the strength of a 6-inch platform and the agility of a 5-inch, striking the perfect balance. While it was originally designed for 5.5-inch props (and we recommend you to use those), it offers you the flexibility to opt for standard 5-inch props without missing a beat.FIFTY5 is definitely not the first frame to be able to run 5.5 inch props, however, it is a fantastic frame that's slightly larger than your regular 5, remarkably easy to assemble, and really lightweight, tipping the scales at just 127g with essential TPU components. Say goodbye to the need for lighter batteries when mounting a GoPro; the FIFTY5 handles it effortlessly. Want extended flight times? However, we all love a rip on a good old 5” drone, don't we? That's why we believed it was the perfect time to create an exceptionally lightweight 5-inch frame with the potential to craft a sub-250g 5” drone. And that's how Tony came to life.Our objectives were clear: create a lightweight frame with excellent flight characteristics and durability. While these aims are relatively straightforward with a standard 5-inch frame, working with a sub-250g 5” frame is an entirely different animal. We won't pretend that this frame was developed without any compromises, but we've given our all to make it a frame you'll eagerly take out to fly day after day!Tony is a straightforward and easy-to-build platform, fully O3-ready, equipped with our signature CNC aluminum camera plates to ensure your valuable camera remains maximally protected during all types of crashes. It's also compatible with analog cameras, VTX, as well as the HDZERO and Walksnail HD systems (Please verify dimensions for compatibility with all VTXs).We highly recommend using AIO flight controllers to keep the weight as light as possible, although a 20x20 mini stack will also work well.For instance, to achieve a sub-250g configuration in our test builds, we utilized a 40A AIO FC, CADDX Vista Nebula Pro, 2004 FlyFishRC Flash motors, TBS Crossfire Nano, bi-blade HQ props, GNB HV 380mAh 6S battery, and one battery strap, resulting in an all-up weight of 248.7g.However, if your intention is to use this frame with the DJI O3 system, the all-up weight of such a setup will increase to around 260g, as the O3 is notably heavier than the Vista. In this case, if staying under 250g is crucial, you might contemplate using a 4S version of the same battery or stripping down the O3 to shave off some of the excess weight.Overall, Tony is an exciting frame that offers an incredibly enjoyable flying experience. It provides a distinct feeling of being nimble yet not overly floaty due to its lightness.
